Sire: - "Cedric" Kamaglo's On The Right Page
Dam: - "Shelby" Benden-Solitaire's Shel B Plan Bee

Exciting news on the puppy front! The Cedric x Shelby pups are here and are BEAUTIFUL.

A little bit about Shelby. Shelby (registered name: Benden-Solitaire Shel B Plan Bee) is a nicely structured, attractive girl with boundless energy, plenty of focus and a strong retrieve drive. She is nearly the ideal house pet in my opinion as she has a great on/off switch (plenty of energy when I need it but a cuddler when we are not working). When I bred her mother Ruffian (Benden’s Solitaire In The Ruff UDX SH NA NAJ RE WCX VCX OD) to her sire Buzz (Ch. Honeybee’s Swarm Warning MH RE WCX MX MXJ) I was looking for a dog a lot like Shelby. I wanted to blend Ruffian’s high energy and strong work ethic with a healthy dose of sensibility. I also am never willing to sacrifice proper size and structure in my breeding program. Although Shelby doesn’t have any titles to her name yet, she is working VERY well in obedience and field and I expect to title her in both venues after she raises this litter. Shelby has very correct structure in a moderately small package. If I can improve anything with her I would like a little “more” everywhere. She has lovely proportions and a pretty head, there just isn’t quite enough of her. This does make her very agile and quick, but not as correct as I would prefer.

The sire is Cedric (Kamaglo’s On the Right Page). Cedric is a boy I have admired since I saw him as a 12-week-old puppy. He is big and bold and very energetic. He loves to retrieve, likes to work and is a very people-focused boy. I got Cedric last year as a 3-year old from his breeder in Wisconsin who felt she wasn’t fulfilling his potential. Although he is a little behind in his training in my opinion, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to work with him – and have a litter or two sired by him. His pedigree is a lot of what I love! He is line-bred on a dog named Sinclair who I bred Ruffian to about 3 years ago. I got a wonderful litter of pups that are titled in obedience, field, agility and conformation. I thought breeding a Ruffian daughter (Shelby) to Cedric might give me a similar mix. Cedric has seven conformation points with one major toward his Championship. He is working well in obedience and I hope to have him ring-ready by this summer in Novice. I also hope to finish the rest of the conformation points for his Championship this year. For all that Cedric is a big boy, he is beautifully put together and is very cat-like in his movement. He has a springy, elastic stride that covers ground fluidly with a rock-hard topline. His head is one of his best qualities in my opinion. He has a broad skull and moderate muzzle with a sweet boy expression (except when he is stealing my socks! Then he gets a devil’s glint to his eyes!).

My hope for this litter is that it will be another group of pups that are able to both be wonderful family companions and good examples of Golden Retriever temperament and structure. I would expect some good performance potential and would feel comfortable with homes looking to compete in obedience or agility. Hopefully there may even be a pup or two that are competitive in the conformation ring.

Health-wise I am very comfortable with this litter. Cedric and Shelby both have their PennHip and OFA hip clearances (he is .52/.44 and she is .41/.36, both are OFA good); they both have eye clearances in the last 18 months, normal elbow reports and normal heart reports from board certified cardiologists. Copies of all these clearances are included in a packet I send out after receiving your deposit.

With VERY few exceptions, I sell my pups on AKC Limited Registration. This means they cannot be bred. Limited registration does allow the dogs to be shown in every venue offered by AKC except conformation. As the breeder of record I do reserve the right to change an individual puppies registration to full registration once certain requirements are met if you ended up with a puppy that was conformation show quality. I recommend spay or neuter in all but a few situations needed to continue my breeding program. Spayed/neutered dogs make better companions and are typically better in competition situations as well.

The price for these puppies will be $1000. A $200 deposit should be submitted with your application for a puppy. That deposit will be refundable if a suitable pup is not available out of this litter. The balance is due 7 days prior to your puppy coming home with you. The application for a puppy is available on my website www.solitairesportingdogs.com Go under the Puppies button and click on Puppy Application.

Once I receive your application you are on my puppy list and will get updates (including pictures) when puppies are born. I try not to overwhelm you with e-mails and information, but usually do anyway! My goal in all this is for my puppies to end up in the right homes. I figure the more you know about me and my puppies and the more I know about you the more successful I can be in placing the right puppy with you.

Pups are just a few days old here and everyone grouped around Shelby's head while they all got a quick nap. Such a sweet scene! Little boy Tiger is the only pup missing - he was back at the bar getting a drink! Of course as soon as the shutter went off, Shelby moved, the pups awoke, crying started as they realized that they were awake and not eating! Sorry to shatter the peaceful moment. Poor Shelby just gave me a look!

Shelby nearly always has a pup between her front legs - she is so careful not to squash them! Pardon the "demon" eyes and I think she caught her lip, too - bless her heart - have babies and her body goes to pot!
